In these two early one-acters Harold Pinter reveals himself as already in full control of his unique ability to make dramatic poetry of the banalities of everyday speech and the precision character. In "The room" an elderly woman is disturbed by visitors who seem to think her room with a kitchen lift which brings them unexpected messages.
