• Cole Porter (1891-1964) est un compositeur et parolier américain, auteur de quelques-unes des plus célèbres comédies musicales de la scène américaine (créées à Broadway). Il connut le succès grâce à ses textes subtils et spirituels, jouant souvent sur les sous-entendus, et à sa musique aux formes et aux rythmes complexes. Beaucoup de ses créations comptent parmi les plus célèbres du Grand répertoire américain de la chanson et les grands standards du jazz.Cole Porter est l'un des rares compositeurs américains de son époque qui ait écrit à la fois la musique et les paroles de ses chansons.
